I spent the morning listening to the morning La Paz cruisers VHF net for the weather update, catching up on email in the Cruiser’s Lounge, checking the weather online, and checking out of the marina with Marina Palmira. I departed for Puerto Ballendra at about 10:45 AM. The winds were forecast to be relatively light. In fact the winds were between 15 and 20 knots from the north making Puerto Ballendra untenable.

Instead, I altered course to Ensenada de La Raza in Puerto Ballena on Espirito Santo Island. I was apprehensive because this was the first time I have single handed the boat in such a remote location. I arrived there at about 14:45. The anchorage is well protected and Shawn and Heather’s Cruising Guide is very good at explaining where to anchor. That made anchoring easy and uneventful. After anchoring, I had a nice swim off the side of the boat. I then had a dinner of eggs and fried potatoes. The anchorage is a little rolly but it is protected from North winds and very pretty.

I spent the evening working on the account of the Mexico voyage thus far.
